"truth had me against the ropes, and semi-conscious without no boxing skills" - pharoahe monch, "the truth"

on a smooth soul-driven track by three of hiphop's prime lyricists, Pharoahe Monch delivers a healthy dose of reality using his trademark no-nonsense approach towards the end of the first verse - setting up perfectly Common & Kweli's verses to follow..

"Truth brings light, light refracts off the mirror
Visions of yourself and error could never clearer
The truth is that you ugly, not on the outside
But in the inside on the outside you frontin you lovely
The discovery of these things and all are well-hidden
But when you in denial of self it is forbidden, that's the truth"

i need to make music again :/

"you can smell the deceit, they greet me like peeps, to blend - to get up, underneath the skin" - masta killa, "chains"

as a whole its a beautiful offering from two of rap's more legendary veterans.. but RA the Rugged Man steals the show as he often does with his multisyllabic flow on "Chains" before concluding the verse with his trademark frankness..

"Yeah, I got a foul mouth, yeah, I cuss too much
I'm just so Ricky Ricardo, ri-di-cu-lous
...
Hospitable, hitable, cooler, than Jacob who criminal
Miracle, lyrical, take every syllable literal
Little riddle, profitable, visible, irritable
Little brittle, pitiful, for so through little, you tickle, you typical
Yeah, I talk shit, I'm cocky with it
It's hard for you to admit it, but I'm one of the best in it"

don't get me wrong though - Masta Killa def holds his own still, with his own trademark depth and vivid depiction of desperation.. and the beat is certified classic - i'll be bumping this 20 yrs from now if i'm alive..

"i need my chips, and the dip - it's like gravy" - snoop dogg, "the wash"

a westcoast swagger track with Dre & Snoop that probably shouldn't be overlooked, off of "The Wash" movie soundtrack..

"Now back to the lecture at hand
Perfection is expected and I'm filling that demand
Los Ang, broad day gunnin
That ain't no earthquake it's just Dre comin
If this shit ain't played, the party ain't bumpin
If I don't show up, the hoes ain't fuckin"

two photosets posted up today - one of Aimee, one of the newest Kayce Models, and one of Jamie from late last summer to forget about the inhumane living conditions we Torontonians put ourselves in on a constant basis during the winters :/
