Jay-Z ft PRIZM - "Reminder" (Remix) Lyrics:

[Verse 1: Jay-Z]

all rhymers with Alzheimers line up please,
all mamis with mind freeze please line up please,
all bloggers with comments, please I come in peace,
lets see if we can kill your amnesia by the time I leave,
all mamis I whored before, vouch for me,
tell em bout the time on your mommas couch mami,
all hustlas who ever bought an eighth from me,
take this time out to set the record straight for me,
'member me, silver bullet hard top mentally
they think I’m outta shape so I have to jog there memory,
think with indelible ink, I let the pen go,
verses permanently tattooed serve as mementos,
ah, I'm so mental, my track record speaks for itself,
I'm so instrumental, allow me to rekindle
lets all reminisce like Mary did,
i think i have to send you a reminder, here it is..

[Chorus]
Reminder, reminder,
I got it if you need it, a reminder
Reminder, reminder,
I think i better give you a reminder
Reminder, reminder,
I got it if you need it, a reminder
Reminder, reminder,
Cos I can give you a friendly reminder..

[Verse 2: PRIZM]

fate invited me, pain ignited me,
lit the flame inside and claimed another side of me,
a rap artist, with a slew of other talents -
i smash targets, through and through, to find the balance..
i run the scene with clarity, the King i dare to be,
compare it to the greatest - see the similarities?
so haters, run along merrily,
y'all parodies - apparently y'all scared of me..
Kayce Photography, straight monopoly,
i paved the way, i played the game the way it oughta be,
now look at all the sh*t i did without lookin,
imitators always tryna follow in my footprints,
jus pushin, my goodness -
i'm losin track of where i'm at and where i took this (Brooklyn)
only 23, but don't you envy me,
this is my life - y'all should jus let it be..

[Chorus]

[Verse 3: Jay-Z]

do what i done without crying, and in the environment
and in which i did it in without dying my n*gga,
rap like I rap without lying and then tying both together like iron my n*gga,
write 16’s in between running 16 businesses,
all the while showing these young punks what the business is,
as if I’m gonna let you n*ggas style on me,
as if, now everybody senile on me,
go back to boonback, remember those button ups,
young Hov, tell them ordinary Joes button up,
I destroy your 4 point O’s
and Benz 500s and all points to Ohhhh,
now you n*ggas ‘memba me, tell me how could you forget,
back to Johnny's album cover, red and blue Gucci sh*t,
ain’t nothing changed but the year it is,
I think I have to send you a reminder, here it is..

[Chorus]

AddictedtoBeauty.ca's Photo of the Day for Aug 28th 09: Silence

i'm not nervous, or even remotely unsure of myself, very often.. last night at 4am or so, i was. i'd just heard a new track off from one of my favourite rappers.. soon as the short instrumental intro kicked in, i was hooked - to the point where i knew i had to write to the track.. this happens a couple times a month and i've even done a half-dozen dubplates/remixes for mixtapes and what not in the past, so it shouldn't have been a big deal.. except..

this particular track comes off of an album that's sure to debut at #1 and go down as either a classic, or close to.. the song also comes from the artist i regard as the most accomplished / best rapper of all time. in other words, off principle, this isn't a track i should record to.. i figured i'd write a few bars to the track and leave it at that - expression. then a crazy thought hit me.. wouldn't it be quite the personal challenge to see if i could come up with a verse that wasn't completely out of place alongside an artist i so revered? if you know anything about me, you know what came next.

almost 12 hours later, i don't hate what i wrote, or recorded.. i like it even, but i don't know if i love it.. i don't know if i don't love it because how much i loved the original version of this track.. but more than anything, i can't decide if remixing a track i pretty much knew i wouldn't be able to improve on was a good idea. i know i probably wouldn't have been as inspired to try and take this on if it hadn't been for Eminem's throwback ruthlessness on Drake's new single. I also know Jay-Z's flow on this song is unreal: the variation, syncopation and character he brings to the dramatic Timbaland beat immediately makes this one of my favourite Jigga songs to date, and that's before we've even addressed his trademark wit and poignant lyrics on a relevant subject matter..

without further adieu - you can listen to my remix of Jay-Z's "Reminder" at:

Drake ft Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem - "Forever" (MP3 & Lyrics)

exactly a year after the release of T.I.'s epic "Swagger Like Us" collaboration, four of the rap game's foremost players get together for another notable collabo on Drake's "Forever".. couple things of note: 1) this track apparently has an official release date of Aug 28th.. whoops. (much love to the homegirl B_marie for the hookup!) 2) yesss, it's been played out to death, but Drake's from TO so no matter how many times i hear from local heads that he's an ass, or that he's cocky (really, who isn't?!), I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and I support him based on his music - which should be the focus for everyone. 3) while everrrryone else is going to be concentrating on the 4 names you've heard of on this song, the first thing i noticed was the production credit: Boi-1da. that's BIGGGG. Boi (pun intended) is also from Toronto, and while he's been banging out quality production for years, this should help him take that leap into the upper echelon.. without further adieu, check out the track - all 4 emcees hold their own on the song i think, but for me, Eminem kills it, with the hometown Drake holding down an impressive 2nd place with his verse + chorus..

Drake ft Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem - "Forever" Lyrics

[Chorus - Drake]

It may not mean nothing to y’all,
understand nothing was done for me,
so i don’t plan on stopping at all,
I want this sh*t forever man, ever man, ever man,
I’m shutting sh*t down at the mall,
and telling every girl she the one for me,
and i ain't even planning to call,
i want this sh*t forever man, ever man, ever man,

[Verse 1 - Drake]

Last name ever, first name greatest,
like a sprained ankle boy ain’t nothing to play with,
it started off local but thanks to all the haters,
i know G4 pilots on a first name basis,
and your city faded off to brown, Nino,
she insists she got more class, we know!
swimming in the money come and find me, Nemo,
if i was at the club you know I ball, Kemo,
dropped the mixtape that sh*t sounded like an album
who’d have thought a country wide tour would be the outcome
labels want my name but sign the x like Malcolm
everybody got a deal, I did it without one,
yeah n*gga i’m about my business,
killing all these rappers you would swear I had a hit list,
everybody who guided me is asking for forgiveness,
if you aint been a part of it at least you got to witness, b*tches,

[Chorus]

[Verse 2 - Kanye West]

I used to have hood dreams, big fame, big chains,
i stuck my d*ck inside this life until that b*tch came,
I went hard all fall like the ball teams,
just so I can make it rain all spring,
y’all seen my story, my glory, i had raped the game young,
you can call it statutory,
when a n*gga blow up they can build statures of me
old money Benjamin Button, whaat, nuttin,
now superbad chicks giving me McLovin,
you would think I ran the world like Michelle’s husband,
you would think these n*ggas would know me when they really doesn’t
like they was down with the old me no you f*cking wasn’t,
your’e such a f*cking loser,
he didn’t even go to class mueller,
trade the Grammy plaques just to have my granny back,
remember she had that bad hip like a fanny pack,
chasing that stardom would turn you into a maniac,
all the way in Hollywood and I can’t even act,
they pull their cameras out and God damn they snap,
I used to want this thing forever you can have it back,

[Chorus]

[Verse 3 - Lil Wayne]

Ok, hello its da martian, space jam Jordan’s,
I want this sh*t forever wake up and smell the Garden,
fresher than the harvest, step up to the target,
if i had one guess than I guess I'm just New Orleans,
and I will never stop like i’m running from the cops,
hopped up in my car and told my chauffeur, "to the top"
life is like a f*cking roller coaster then it drops,
but what should I scream for this is my theme park,
my minds shine even when my thoughts seem dark,
pistol on my side you don’t wanna hear that thing talk,
let the king talk, check the price and pay attention,
Lil Wayne thats what they got to say or mention,
I'm like Nevada in the middle of the summer,
i’m resting in the lead, I need a pillow and a cover,
shhh, my foots sleeping on the gas,
no brake pads - no such thing as last..

[Chorus]

[Verse 4 - Eminem]

There they go, back in stadiums, as Shady spits his flow,
nuts they go, macadamia they go so ballistic yo,
we can make them look like boso’s, he’s wondering if he should spit this slow,
f*ck no go for broke, his cup just wanna throw over, oh no,
he ain't had a buzz like this since the last time he overdosed,
they’ve been waiting patiently for Pinnochio to poke his nose,
back into the game and they know, rap will never be the same as before,
bashing in the brains of these hoes, and establishing a name as he goes,
the passion of the flame is ignited, you can’t put it out once we light it,
this is sh*t exactly what the f*ck that i’m talking about when we riot,
you dealing with a mutual villain, so stay inside of the boots you spillin
so spit true feelings, til true feelings come flying up out of our mouths
never mind it,
payback muthaf*cker for the way you got at me now how’s it taste,
when I slap the taste out your mouth with the bass so loud that it shakes the place,
i’m hannibal lecters son just in case your thinking of saving face,
you aint gonna have no face to save by the time Im through with this place,
so Drake..

Charles Hamilton - "Brooklyn Girls" (MP3 & Lyrics)

song's been out since he put it out as a CD single in '07, but i jus came across the track recently.. he's been circulating a bit in the underground circuits lately, but i don't know much about him except his (sometimes fruity) choice of attire and that he apparently reps BK. i don't feel his image, but as a rapper i can dig this track. Charles Hamilton brings a solid mix of lyrics, swagger & distinctive character on a lovely chopped-soul-sample instrumental; the track as a whole brings me back to why i fell in love with mid-90s NYC rap growing up.. in terms of comparisons, i'd say a less-nerdy, less-preachy Lupe Fiasco with a better delivery/voice & more style, with a tinge of Kid Cudi (minus the pointless weirdness) - def a lot to work with & i wouldn't be surprised if he blows up in the near future.

Charles Hamilton - "Brooklyn Girls"
Lyrics

I'm an uptown boy with Soho flava
The beat is D minor but I'm oh so major
I do my own thing so I owe no favors
Can't do it now then I won't go later
Haters wanna see the boy get lost in the sauce
But it's gravy so boy get lost
Nah I ain't cocky I'm just statin the obvious
H.O. the boss and I'm makin his pockets rich
Hated or not I am great and about to get greater
Hit the paper like the boy was clay olkovich
I keep it real and my ladies do the same
High class chicks that be crazy in the brain
Style so mean swag is vicious
Smile O.D. as delicious
Stay gettin money no need for ebay
My heart is all world but I'm lovin BK

I ain't got no problems with girls out in Harlem but
They ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
See I had a dope fling with a girl out in queens but
They ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
The Bronx is live that's where my mom resides but
They ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
Damn sure ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
Damn sure ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl

My girl Angie can't be a groupie or whore
She bout getting money in her juicy couture
Do she get bored with the Gucci of course
So the Louis she sports till it ain't new anymore
Then she cop another one makin hoes gettin madder
Gettin more money so the price don't matter
Ain't seen her in a minute know her ass got fatter
And if you think she bad than her friends are way badder
Kenja's a christian never seen freakin
In church every weekend she need to be a deacon
Had a model b*tch Vida we ain't speakin
But I had her screamin whenever I was beatin
She been callin, creepin, crawlin
Maybe she would chill if I would beat it off
Then Ronesha's fly and she sweeter than splenda
Cause no one ever slows her agenda

I ain't got no problems with girls out in Harlem but
They ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
See I had a dope fling with a girl out in queens but
They ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
The Bronx is live that's where my mom resides but
They ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
Damn sure ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
Damn sure ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl

And sweet smoke da la la la
BK gettin money no 9-5
Mama sing mama sa mu makusa
I don't make sense but admit it, it's kinda hot
BK girls down with that ride or die
So I always keep one right by my side
See I love New York I ain't gotta lie
So if you messin with my ladies it's homicide
I gotta friend named Shayna
She like Bill Bellamy and how to be a player
Shorty is a player can't nobody play her
Can't nobody game her cause she ain't a gamer
Babygirl a baller kinda like the Lakers
If you would treat her like Shaq then see ya later
Player she do it so easy it's kinda like a layup
She could lay up with your boy with no make up
Keep doin her an I'm a keep doin me
Even on the road I'm a keep 2 or 3
Bad BK chicks that speak fluently
In the Hamilton language girl speak to me please
I remember when I could'nt get a girl for sh*t
Now I can't get rid of any girl for sh*t
So when they look at me I don't look away
I spread love it's the brooklyn way
Now let the hook play

I ain't got no problems with girls out in Harlem but
They ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
See I had a dope fling with a girl out in queens but
They ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
The Bronx is live that's where my mom resides but
They ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
Damn sure ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl
Damn sure ain't nuttin like a Brooklyn girl

There ain't nuttin like a brooklyn girl [x3]
There sure ain't nuttin like them brooklyn girls [x2]

Lil Wayne - "3-Peat" Lyrics

this one's been out for a few years, but its a classic as far as i'm concerned and its one of favourite tunes these days.. Weezy leaves his trademark wit along with his heart on jus about every track he steps on, and "3-Peat" is no different.. you might not agree with his candid/barbaric lyrics about women/sex/drugs, but overlook Lil Wayne as a lyrical heavyweight you should not.

Lil Wayne - "3-Peat" Lyrics

I'm on it,
Oh I'm on it,
I'm so on it
And however you on it.
You can get it tonight hoe
And all night hoe.
I get the beats from maestro.
f*cking right hoe.
I might go crazy on these n*gga's
I don't give a motherf*ck,
Run up in a n*ggas house
And shoot his grandmother up,
What, what,
I don't give a motherf*ck
Get your baby kidnapped,
Then your baby motherf*cked.
It's the Carter 3 b*tch
Better put your supper up.
Holly grove i throw it up,
Like I'm tryna lose my gut.
f*ck his up, beat em up,
Like a million upper cuts.
Got a million duffled up,
For the f*ck of it.
sh*t.
Get on my level, you cant get on my level
You gon' need a space shuttle or a ladder
That's forever.
However I'm better,
If not now then never.
Don't you ever fix your lips,
Unless you bout to suck my d*ck, b*tch!
Swallow my words, taste my thoughts.
And if it's too nasty
Spit it back at me.
Two more inches
I'da been in that casket.
According to the doctor
I could have died in traffic.
Bounce right back
On them b*tches like magic.
Abra cadabra
I'm up like Viagra.
I just do this sh*t for my click like Adam Sandler.
I control Hip-Hop and
I'ma keep it on my channel.

Watch me! b*tch watch me!
b*tch watch me!
But they cannot see me,
Like Hitler its the
New Orleans nightmare.
Money so old
It's growing white hair.
Young money baby,
Yeah we right here.
I'ma make sure we ball

'Till we fall like tears.
And momma don't cry.
Your son can handle his.
I got her out the hood and put up in the hills.
Yeah.
When I was fourteen
I told my mom we would see better days.
And sure enough I got Ms. Seether in a better place.
Yeah.
When I was fourteen
I told my mom we would see better days.
And sure enough we did exactly what I say.
I told my girl when you f*ck me,
Better f*ck me good.
Cause if another girl could
She gon f*ck me good.
No sittin at the table
If you bringin nothin to it.
And I get straight to it,
Like there's nothing to it.
Yeah.
I got game like Stuart Scott.
Fresh out the ESPN shop.
And when sports center poppin,
Everything stopping.
Cause you cant fool me.

I know what you watching.
Me.
You watch me.
You watch me.
Cause I be Weezy.
Must see
T.V.
C3.
n*gga that's me,
And I'm me.
And I'm me, times three.
So retreat or suffer defeat
I'm back,
3 peat.
C3.
